Personally, I’m getting tired of Mr. Bale’s self-absorbed grandiose antics. I don’t care how good he is, my response to screaming sofa-jumping actors is to boycott their movies. There are a lot of good actors there to support.

All the Little Animals sounds interesting – how come I haven’t heard of that one? Direct to DVD essentially?

Hey Shawn,

Thanks! As you and several other people have pointed out, Empire of the Sun was accidentally omitted from the list. I would put that one at #3, just above The Prestige.

As for Christopher’s suggestions, I’ll be honest, I haven’t seen any of those four films. While I would like to see Bale’s version of Jesus, Mary, Mother of Jesus doesn’t look all that great to me. Velvet Goldmine and Metroland are potentials – it doesn’t look like he had a very big part in Henry V???

As for Newsies, I didn’t say it was a stellar film, but it is one of those films I loved as a kid and I continue to enjoy to this day, so I stand by my ranking! ) A bunch of us watched it in college a few years back and still liked it a lot.

“Newsies” was crap…even Christian Bale couldn’t save that film!!

This list omits one of his best films….!!!! Empire of the Sun. He was only 11 years old but it’s truly a stand out performance! Directed by Speilberg post ET pre Color Purple it’s a very solid film!
