One of the special features on the Lost: Season 3 DVD may not answer all of the questions of the mysterious show, but does it reveal a good chunk? If you click on the fourth screen you can actually click on, you’ll see an entry for “Orchid Instructional Video”, which has that Asian scientist guy preparing to shoot an instructional film. He’s getting makeup applied to reduce the shine, and is also holding a bunny rabbit.
However, the video is quickly disrupted - and by that I mean that the scientists begin to freak out - when a second bunny rabbit appears. What’s so strange or notable about these events are these:
- The bunny rabbit that the scientist is holding has a “15″ branded on its side. When the other bunny appears, it too has “15″ on its side.
- The scientist shouts in desperation, “Keep them away from each other!”
- The scientist then asks an assistance how far “the shift was set?” She responds, “Minus twenty.”
Um… so what the hell does this mean? Cloning? That would explain the “15″ on both bunnies. But “keep them away from each other”? Does that mean alternate realities? Time travel? This instructional video definitely raises some questions and possibly answers them, but of course we won’t know for sure. Near the end of Season 3, it is revealed that rescuers found an airplane they believed to be the survivor’s flight at the bottom of a deep underwater chasm, with all bodies on board. If this airplane is indeed the correct flight, then how are the survivors still alive? Are they alternate versions of themselves? What the heck?
Anyway, I’m intrigued.

OK, so I got all excited that what I saw on the DVD was new, but as some people have informed me, there are websites out there that have tracked these same theories for a while now… I should have known. But oh well, let me live in my fake glory!

What the heck to you mean by Hurley’s van episode being a “stumble”??? this was probably one of the best episodes of all 3 seasons so far. maby the subtleties were a little beyond you ,, but thats definately the strangest “Lost” comment i’ve heard.

Hi Joey,
What subtleties were those? I picked up several, but it didn’t make up for a boring, more humorous episode. I like Hurley, but have never liked his episodes for the most part - they are cheesier, goofier and just not as impactful (they even seem written in a different way, too). That’s not to say his episodes don’t include clues - but the presentation is blah.
I respect your opinion, but I’m surprised that the Hurley van episode would rank among the best of all three seasons. So it would rank in your top ten episodes of the series?

well, i just got the season 3 dvd yesterday. hey, maby i was just in a great mood or something that day. Once i rewatch the “Hur-van” episode for the second time (which i will very soon) i’ll remember just what it was about it i liked so much. i just watched the first 3 episodes again (and for the first time without stupid distracting commercials) and found myself getting absolutely enraged at the “others”. i think its those few times when anyone is able to loose themselves in the moment on the island that really uplift me. like Hurley cruising in circles. Its those positive moments amongst all the devistation that i live for. that combined with the great and unexpected magical coincidences, that im sure any lost fan thrives on. Those moments of overcomming your psychological distractions to appreciate just how frickin’ cool life really is, right then, is what i think its all about. especially if your on a beautiful tropical island.

Hi Joey,
OK, let me know. I tend to enjoy the darker and more serious episodes, which is why the Hurley ones often rub me the same way. The same went for The X-Files - which I liked the goofier episodes, I always liked the dark, plot-driven ones a lot more.
