I waited months in atticipation. I planned. I was on the top of the world. The new X-files movie was comming out July 25th- and I would be there opening day to enjoy what I assumed would be a mulder and scully action packed- riviting experience that I couldnt take my eyes away from and would require my viewing it several times over to compleatly and totally take in all of its x-files goodness.
Not so much.
As a sat watching the movie I gave myself a few minutes to get into X-files mode- prepaired with the knowlegde of every episode ever made that I had seen- the first x-files movie still churnning in my brain and of course every moment that held vial treads in the grand tapistry that wove the Mulder and Scully saga- I knew that it may take some time for the movie to unfold. It never did. Kodos to Gillian and David for recanting their roles as the dynamic duo once again- however I saidy say that the movie lacked the depth of what it could have been. A monster movie gone bad- even the moments where they attmept to dive into the internal struggle of finding themselves the movie falls quite short. Its only moment where an xfilie can feel good is to see Mulder and Scully still together. So with that I write the words that I thought could absoluly never come from myself. I was highly dissapointed- not only as an avid X-Files fan but as a general movie attender as well. However- I will thank everyone for all the years of amazing work prior to this moive- I will always have nine seasons and one great moive to rewatch!!! Sadly the truth is that second X-Files movie was far out there- in left field.
