Hi Mike, I loved the other Pixar films such as The Incredibles and Ratatouille, but from a cinematic perspective, I found Wall-E just so much more impressive in terms of visuals and storytelling ability (to succeed in making a cartoon with such little dialogue is amazing). I would probably watch The Incredibles over and over again more than Wall-E, but had that movie come out in 2008, it probably would be on this list, too.

As for Dark Knight... All I can say is that Iron Man, while great, was no Dark Knight.

As for Gran Torino, it was hilarious - and there was nothing accidental about it. It was exactly the movie Clint Eastwood intended to make. Yes, I think you're the one who doesn't get out too much. :o)

Luke, yes, even though that was my favorite comedy of the year, comedy is my least favorite genre - and thus no comedies made the list (unless you count Wall-E). I rank comedies based on how much they make me laugh (with stooping to too much toilet humor), but I rank the "best movies of the year" on an entirely different scale.

Mike hahaha damn you're funny! I'll just assume you're not serious.

Also, what about In Bruges? Saving that for top 10 best comedies?

Seriously? Wall-E? I fail to see what everyone loves so much about this movie. It simply was not entertaining like most of Pixar's other great films (The Incredibles is still my favorite). Same goes for Dark Knight. It was a decent enough movie, but definately not number one from last year. Heck, Ironman was better. Those were the two on your little list that I've seen, though the other will come later (on DVD).

Weren't you the same one who lambasted Gran Torino as one of the years best accidental comedies? Now its on your top 10? Ouch. One of us doesn't get out much... oh well, probably me.

Watch for my Top Ten Action Movies of 2008 coming this week. Iron Man was excellent, but I rarely put action movies in my top ten. The Dark Knight is an odd exception to that rule.
