Cirque de Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant Trailer

August 5th, 2009

Universal Pictures just released the movie trailer for the upcoming horror-comedy Cirque de Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant, about a kid who goes to a freak show only to discover that it’s run by a vampire. Bored with his current life, he decides to accept the vampire’s invitation to become one himself. He then begins to learn about all the cool new powers he has. John C. Reilly plays the elder vampire.

Frankly, the movie doesn’t look all that funny. The trailer has its moments, but it’s hard to tell whether the film is really going to be funny or not. Most of the jokes evoke chuckles but nothing more. Watch the trailer for the movie and let me know what you think:

I think that I hate the director and he has messed the books up more than words can say. The books are incredible, and just from watching 2 and a half minutes of the movie they have done so many things wrong. I’m annoyed and I can’t believe this is allowed to happen. The Shan books are not comedy, so why turn it into one?! The movie looks like it really is that kind of unbelievable kids movie, when the books manage to have an audience of young adults. SERIOUS F**K UP.
    From a depressed Shan Fan.

I completely agree with daniel! this movie is screwing everything up! if u wanna make a movie out of a really popular book then do it right!!!! in this movie it seems he’s excited to be a vampire, darren was not excited in the book! why is darren shan even letting those stupid directors do this?! i say they need to either call it off or fix it!!!

    I totally agree.
I read the whole series and seeing this trailer i feel embarrest to say I’ve read it.
The book was no where near a comic when i read it. There maybe was one or two times where something was funny. but most of the series was suspenseful.

The author Darran sold out big time. I would never ever let a director make a mockery out of my book.

BTW im choosing not to see the movie as I don’t wanna ruin such a good book.
