The Longshots arrives on DVD on Tuesday, December 2nd. The movie stars Ice Cube and the girl from Akeelah and the Bee as a coach and female football quarterback respectively, who carry a rather crappy team to the playoffs. The family sports movie, directed by Fred Durst of all people, is based on a true story.

Amidst hangovers, bad weather and way too much television, I’ve caught up on some of the contest and giveaway maintenance for FilmJabber, which, I will admit, is the least exciting part of running a successful movie website. While I am happy to give out DVDs and other prizes to so many people, packaging, stamping and sending sixty or more prizes at a time gets rather tiresome.
Nonetheless, I’m set to send out a massive wave of DVDs this week, assuming I don’t get busy with other things. I’ll keep you posted.

2008 Summer Movie Survey
Congratulations to Ralph Siegel of Plainview, NY for winning a copy of Eastern Promises upon completing FilmJabber’s 2008 summer movie survey. I’ll be doing a new survey soon, and am hoping for even more responses than this one.
My bedroom says thank you! After exactly two months of hording DVDs, I’ve finally packaged them, stamped them and sent them off to all you lucky contest and giveaway winners. I try to send out a shipment each month, but going to the Post Office is just a pain in the ass – even though there is one in the building where I work. So, if you always wonder why it takes so long to get your free DVDs, the reason is, often enough, that I’m lazy.
Below is a list of DVDs that I’ve shipped out to the selected winners. Please note that if your contest has closed and winners have been selected, but it is not listed here, that simply means that I am not sending the prizes out myself and have forwarded on your information to the appropriate movie studio to send out on my behalf. I have no real way of tracking these in any realistic way, so I just hope and pray (well, I don’t pray) that the studios get the shipments out to you. Thanks to an abundance in DVDs, I’ve been provided with several more copies for some movie giveaways that I recently ran in my movie contests section. As such, this means that instead of one or two winners for each of the following DVD giveaways, I’m instead able to give away three or four DVDs. All but one of the giveaways are already closed, so you don’t have to do anything if you’ve already entered. Just click on the links below to see if you won.
I normally don’t promote contests that take people away from my own website, but Run, Fatboy, Run looks pretty funny, and the studio (or the marketing firm that is working with the studio) has developed a game widget that allows you to get excited about the movie – and to win a private screening for you and your friends. Personally, I don’t like playing these kinds of online games, but a lot of people do. From a marketing perspective, I really need to learn how to make some of these things, as they are very effective marketing teams.

Those of you looking to kill a minute or two, voice your opinion and have a stab at $20 Fandango Bucks should head on over to voxpop.tv and try out their Jim Carrey game. Why? Because I said so!
Seriously, the game is pretty cool. Basically, it’s Jim Carrey Death Match, which means his movies go head-to-head and you get to decide which one’s better. Eventually, after several one-on-one matches, you eventually end up with your top pick. The whole game is easy to play, takes almost zero brain power and runs on some pretty cool Flash technology.
Interestingly enough, I thought I knew what my favorite Jim Carrey movie is… but as the picks kept on appearing, I found myself torn. I absolutely love Dumb & Dumber, but, then again, I also love The Truman Show. Dumb & Dumber is funnier, but is The Truman Show a better all around movie? Of course, the guys (and ladies) over at Box Office Prophets would say Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of the best movies ever.
What did I choose? Maybe I’ll tell you, but maybe I won’t.
